There’s so much to love about Europe: from the graceful canals of Venice to the cobbled stone streets of Brussels, the Renaissance art of Rome to the bustling streets dotted with double deckers in London, there is simply no way to travel across the continent without being completely awestruck. Europe has it all - the history, the art, the food, the culture… you name it, and this diverse mosaic of countries has it in spades. Big names like France, Spain, and England conjure up visions of natural beauty and architectural feats, and have many excitedly packing their bags with a little bit of a plan and a whole lot of Ryan Air tickets. When planning a trip to Europe, it’s not a matter of if, but of when.
Looking to host a corporate retreat to Europe but aren’t sure where to stay? Let us share a few of our favourites to help get you started. In no particular order, here is a list of our “must-stays” across the continent:
Huus Hotel | Gstaad, Switzerland
When we go to Switzerland there is only one place we stay... and that is the stunning Huus Hotel. This 4-star property is the epitome of "chalet-chic" - a uniquely Swiss getaway that goes unmatched by most. Located in the Bernese Alps, the accommodation has been praised time and time again for its aesthetic design, impeccable service, and unbelievable views.
Cozy-up in one of 136 alpine-style guestrooms - perfect for putting your feet up and relaxing in comfort. Feel at home with rich and warming chalet-style interiors finished with natural materials and a modern sheen. With sweeping views of the mountain world outside your window, you’re never too far away from the great outdoors at Huus - even if you can't seem to pull yourself away from the comforts of your plush double bed and rainfall shower!
The Huus Hotel is home to a breakfast buffet, Spanish eatery and a fine dining restaurant. There's also a sophisticated bar, a cozy lounge, and a terrace offering panoramic alpine views. To add to your comfort, you can also enjoy a tranquil spa or the large indoor pool.
Why we love Huus Hotel: Oh, Huus, where do I even begin? This hotel is one in a million, seriously. As if it’s jaw-dropping landscapes and interior design aren’t enough (it’s been photographed for more than one magazine, if that tells you anything), all the little features are what push it over the edge. The incredibly friendly Huus staff can be found dressed in chic alpine wear, one of the on-site restaurants has been designed to look like a cave (!!!) and they even have a pug, Charlie, who acts as the cutest little guard dog that you ever did see. Huus Hotel is truly an experience in and of itself.

Castello di Gargonza | Tuscany, Italy
The little walled privately-owned Tuscan village of Gargonza sits perched atop a hill overlooking Valdichiana (Chiana Valley), surrounded by a 500-hectare forest. Made up of 13 buildings that have maintained their original structure, this impressive Castle looks like something right out of a fairytale.
The property’s 45 guestrooms boast authentically Italian furnishings, including terracotta floors and wood-beam ceilings. Looking out into the courtyard or surrounding landscapes, it’s impossible not to feel completely at ease in the countryside.
The crown jewel of the little village is La Torre di Gargonza Restaurant, serving traditional Tuscan dishes made with simple, genuine, seasonal ingredients paired with regional wines. An outdoor pool, private gardens and a conference centre are all within the walls of this medieval estate, alongside an impressive menu of activities.
Why we love Castello di Gargonza: Castello di Gargonza will always hold a special place in our hearts here at Moniker. The property’s location is ideal for hosting retreats, given that it’s far removed from the city, yet close enough for a day-trip or two. It’s so easy to tie a theme into a retreat hosted at Gargonza and, thanks to it’s kind and flexible staff, this can be reflected across all elements at the property. Also, let’s be real, there’s something to be said about inviting your team to stay in a castle… talk about a memorable experience!
